Hamburg offers all year round a very wide variety of events such as the Hamburg fish market (Hamburger Fischmarkt) every Sunday and the Hamburger Dom, which takes place three times a year.
The Port´s birthday (Hafengeburtstag) is each jear in May. On the harbor mile from the Speicherstadt up to the fish auction hall, there is live music, rides, culinary and various interactive programs. Highlights are the inlet and outlet Parade of ships, the tug ballet and fireworks on Saturday.
In late summer, the Alstervergnügen will take place around the Alster. A great program with many stages, culinary, fairy lights and fireworks invites you to enjoy.
Every jear in May, the Kirschblütenfest takes place. The Japanese community thanked at the time of cherry blossom with fireworks at all hamburgers for their hospitality. End of the 60s the community gave the people of Hamburg 5000 Japanese cherry trees, which were planted in the Alster Park, near the Kennedy Bridge, in Alsterkrugchaussee and at the Altonaer Balkon. The fireworks on the Alster will be accompanied by a program, offering the culinary specialties from Japan, among other things.
Every year in December, the Historical Christmas market is held at the Town Hall Square. About 100 dealers show arts and crafts, pre-Christmas food and rides.
Some Film Festival (Filmfest Hamburg, Hamburg International Lesbian and Gay Film Festival, Fantasy Film Festival), the Christopher Street Day (CSD) and the Hamburg Harley Days are held each year.
Each year in June / July Europe's largest motorcycle church service will be held in Hamburg with 35-40 thousand participants. Very popular is also the Schlager Move and the world-Astra-day that is celebrated once each year at the St. Pauli Landungsbrücken. Art lovers enjoy the ElbArt in the Old Elbe Tunnel.
